Punch Out!!
Reader Rating:

You take to the ring as Little Mac, a fighter with a heart of gold going up against the world. With your trainer Doc Louis, Little Mac must face through 3 sets of world circuits before coming face to face with the skillful Mr. Dream. Each opponent has their own set of weaknesses, and it takes careful strategy, along with some quick reflexes, to capitalize on these mistakes and send your opponent to the ground. Punch Out!! is yet another title in the growing list of must-have Virtual Console titles. 500 Points should not keep Little Mac out for the count.
Legacy...
The original Punch Out!! was released as an arcade boxer in 1984. The arcade title put a wire framed nameless character through bouts against 6 opponents, cycling after that if the gamer continued to win. Though not technically a port, the NES version Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! was released in 1987 with Mike Tyson as the games final antagonist. In 1990, after contract disputes with Tyson, Nintendo rereleased the title as Punch Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream. The title made it's only other full fledged appearance in 2002's Animal Crossing as one of the rarer NES cartridges, though in a micro game in WarioWare: Smooth Moves, you must become Mario the referee and count out Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, and Bald Bull for the win. Super Punch Out!! was later released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as a sequel to the illustrious boxing title, with many characters returning for a second time. In 2005, Electronic Arts released Fight Night: Round 2 with Punch Out!!'s own Little Mac as a playable character. North American gamers finally scored the pugilistic title on April 16th, roughly 2 weeks after both European and Japanese gamers.Reader Reviews
