Super Mario Bros.
The game that kickstarted a gaming legend.
Super Mario Brothers has the courageous Mario brothers hopping, swimming and warping through eight dangerous lands of the Mushroom Kingdom on a mission to rescue Princess Toadstall from the clutches of King Koopa. It's a solid title filled with well-tuned platforming elements, a host of colorful levels and enemies, and fun secrets like warp pipes that give Mario and Luigi a branching path to World 8. At the time this made the game addicting and even now it makes for a new experience each time through, as gamers can play through in 10 minutes or play each level in sequence.
Legacy...
Super Mario Brothers has seen quite a few releases since its debut. It was bundled with
Duck Hunt back on the NES, re-released with
Super Mario All Stars on the SNES, later ported to Game Boy Color as
Super Mario Brothers Deluxe, and again as an NES Classic on the Game Boy Advance. In any case, I'm sure you'd agree that the game isn't particularly difficult to get ahold of. Still, it's a defining title in the history of videogames, and remains a fun pick up and play game that still hasn't lost its magic. 500 points is a small price to pay for such a fun little piece of history.
