Nintendo licenses Wiimote charger
Thanks to Sanyo, the charger utilizes eneloop technology to power up your Wiimote in a whole new way.
According to a recent article on CNet, Nintendo has teamed up with Sanyo to create the first Nintendo-licensed Wiimote charger. The NiMH batteries last six hours on a single charge and take approximately 220 minutes to fully recharge. Utilizing the company's eneloop technology, the charger is able to rejuice the NiMH battery pack without actually making any sort of physical contact with them -- as long as the Wiimote is located within the magnetic field generated by the charger, it will recharge. This also allows the batteries to recharge without taking off the Wiimote jacket, and will potentially also allow the Wiimote to charge with the forthcoming WiiMotion Plus addon still attached. Additionally, using eneloop gives the batteries a much longer shelf life than regular NiMH batteries: 90% of the charge will still be retained after six months of use, and 70% after two years. Additional chargers can also be chained together to be sequentially (not simultaneously) charged from one AC adapter. The Sanyo charger has only been announced for Japan so far, and a single charger will run you about $74 USD on an import website. But hey, the tech is definitely cool enough to be worth trying out.

Sounds cool, but I get much more playtime on a single charge with my rechargeable AAs.
