Nintendo announces WiiSpeak
Nintendo finally unveils its voice chat solution for the Wii.
Just announced at the pre-E3 conference, the new WiiSpeak USB microphone sits atop your TV right above your Wii sensor bar, and unlike the more traditional headset approach, is designed to pick up the voices of everyone in the room. The first game to make use of the optional peripheral for its online communication (probably via a heavy dose of friendcodes) will be Animal Crossing®: City Folk, coming this holiday season. The game and microphone will be sold separately.

They're being sold separately? Wow, Nintendo just made MORE money off of me :/

Yeah, they are according to the AC:CF fact sheet.
I rarely use voice chat, so I'm not sure I'd have any use for this. It's not like the online games worth playing that'll support this are going to be rampant too!
