What We Say
The game that started it all. A sinister sorcerer known as Ganon has kidnapped Princess Zelda! It's up to the heroic Link to battle his way through the vast lands of Hyrule, defeating monsters at every turn and gaining items to improve his abilities to find and rescue Zelda from Ganon's clutches.
The Legend of Zelda introduced many new facets to the gaming world. Most notably, it was the first game to use a save battery. No more would players be forced to start at the beginning every time they booted up their NES. They were able to save their progress and resume from that point any time they liked. The game also introduced item mapping, that is, assigning the A and B buttons to perform specific tasks. Hey, it was pretty ground breaking back then.
