UAE father of 78 eyes new brides for century target
Mon Aug 20, 11:17 AM ET
DUBAI (Reuters) - A one-legged Emirati father of 78 is lining up his next two wives in a bid to reach his target of 100 children by 2015, Emirates Today reported on Monday.
Daad Mohammed Murad Abdul Rahman, 60, has already had 15 brides although he has to divorce them as he goes along to remain within the legal limit of four wives at a time.
"In 2015 I will be 68 years old and will have 100 children," the local tabloid quoted Abdul Rahman as saying.
"After that I will stop marrying. I have to have at least three more marriages to hit the century."
The United Arab Emirates newspaper splashed its front page with a picture of Abdul Rahman surrounded by his children, the eldest of whom is 36 years old and the youngest of whom is 20 days old. Two of his current three wives are also pregnant.
Abdul Rahman said his large family lived in 15 houses. He supports them with his military pension and the help of the government of Ajman, one of seven emirates that comprise the UAE, which includes the Gulf trade and tourism hub of Dubai.
Islam allows men to marry up to four women at a time, though most marry only one. The UAE is a Muslim country but is home to migrants from around the world.

How can such an individual even find women to agree on marrying him?

I wonder if his future wives know he's only marrying them to reach a number.

I'm okay with polygamy as long as the children are being fully supported by their parents and not a government. It is weird to me that polyandry is so rare in every society, when there have been and probably always will be polygyny relationships.
But I think it's pretty selfish to have 100 children when it's hard enough to spend quality time with an average sized family. When children become just a benchmark number in your life, you should probably be sterilized.

Do you think it'll be possible for me to beat Daad's number with just one wife?

He should be castrated just to set an example, it's not as if overpopulation isn't already a problem enough, we could do without such people.

Although I am pretty sure you're joking, having too many babies through one's life can kill you. Your body can only take so much. Pregnancy and giving birth takes a lot out of a woman. The world record for having the most number of children officially recorded is 69 by the first of two wives of Feodor Vassilyev. In 27 pregnancies, she gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, seven sets of triplets and four sets of quadruplets, between 1725-1765, but this is a total oddity. A woman's body isn't meant to have that many children.

Actually, the UAE is experiencing a population decline which is why the goverment is attempting to bolster support for multiple children.

IIRC, the goverment gives them support.

Do the math: 100 kids equals 900 months equals 75 years.

With the average female life expectancy in France being 84 and the wonders of modern science, all this means is Batist will have to marry a 9 year old. Perfectly reasonable I think.
