MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - A man killed his two young children Saturday by throwing them off the 15th floor of a landmark South Beach hotel and then jumped to his own death, police said.
The children were 4 and 8 years old and the family was on vacation from Alton, Ill., said police spokesman Bobby Hernandez.
The mother of the children told police she and her husband had been having marital problems for the past six months, Hernandez said. Police did not immediately release the identities of the family members.
The woman heard one of her children screaming from an adjacent room in the Loews Hotel, and when she walked into the room she saw her husband going off the balcony, Hernandez said.
She looked over the railing and saw her husband and her two children lying on a mezzanine roof that is about two floors above the ground.
Hernandez said that despite the marital problems, the family had been celebrating the couple's 10th wedding anniversary.
"It's a terrible tragedy. It's unfortunate that this gentleman was so selfish and in an effort to get back at his wife he took the two most loved people in the world away from her," Hernandez said.
Hernandez said the woman did not know why her husband killed the children and himself.
"There was no indication that he would be capable of doing something as horrible as this," Hernandez said.
People in neighboring rooms said they did not hear any noises, Hernandez said.
A Loews Hotel spokeswoman in Miami would not comment.

This is just absolutely horrible and tragic. I really can't say anything else about it

Too bad the awesome, super cool, Latino officer, Hernandez, couldn't stop this tragic event. 
Seriously though the kids had nothing to do with anything. The suiciders never stop to realize how a death can seriously inflict someone so much pain.

How do they know that the husband killed himself? Because the Wife told them she saw him jump, right?
Imagine this. You come back into your hotel room, and your husband tells you that he just threw both kids out the window. What goes through your mind? To throw him out the window.
Then again, if the husband was so much of a nutcase to kill his own two children, he would definately be capable of killing himself too. But, hey this is a defiante possibility, and I wouldn't blame the mother. Then again, maybe I have just seen too many detective movies.
However, that doesn't change that this is one cruel and awful story  . Those poor children. "WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"

You would throw someone you love who has a documented mental illness out the window on your 10th year anniversary?

What's with all the topics about weird stuff in Florida. I have no issue with them but damn. Florida is not the place to go right now it seems.

If they had just killed 2 children, I would, especially if they were my own. I'm normally not a vengeance kind of guy, but I;d make an exception in cases like this.

You would also need to know the size of the man and woman, since if the woman wasn't as built, she may have not been able to force a guy with a mental illness over a balcony, as he would obviously fight back.
So im gonna say he jumped.
