George Lucas and his team are currently hard at work on a Star Wars live-action TV series. It will be set between the end of Revenge of the Sith and the beginning of Episode IV: A New Hope. The plot would centre on Luke Skywalker's early years growing up on Tatooine.

Yeah that pretty much sums it all up. I'm sure moisture farming is going to be totally exciting! NOT
Yeah there will be some intresting parts but god....anything else would have been better.

What?!?!?!?! They specifically said they wouldn't be using any major characters. That's a load of crap. Lucas. I. Hate. You.

Uhm, wouldn't that be also in the time that Luke is growing up?
I'm guessing that the series wouldn't only centre on Luke becoming a moisture farmer...

Excellent...something else to fill my addiction. Hopefully we get to see Vader's rise to power.

I think you can blame Smallville for this development.

Whoa now. Smallville isn't responsible for Lucas' ability to destroy his own IP. He's managed to do that for many years now, each time worse than the last. (Except Ep. III which, while not better than any of the original trilogy, far surpassed Ep. I and II.)

For me, the entire concept of Luke's life being uneventful up until the start of E4 was part of the movies' appeal. Is he trying to destroy EVERY interesting facet of the series?

If you judge it on simply the movies I could sorta see your point but there are alot fo great SW books and comics out there that far surpass the movies.

Um, the original trilogy isn't overrated. The franchise was ruined by the new trilogy, which relied too heavily on cool action CGI scenes than the story that made its predecessor an instant hit.

I wouldn't say completely crappy or even overrated. Maybe overused, as it seems there are just way too much Star Wars stuff, some of which contradict each other since Lucas just licenses the name out for money.
