End Boss 2006, Day 6: The Finalhazard (Sonic Adventure 2: Battle)

The Biolizard/Finalhazard
The Prototype of the Ultimate Life

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle

As the Eclipse Cannon in the ARK prepares to obliterate the Planet Earth, it is stopped at the last second by Sonic. However, Shadow has secretly activated the ARK to crash course on the Earth by itself, which would not only kill many Earthlings, but also everyone on the ARK, which Eggman would like to avert.

Why would the ARK want to plummet to Earth? Well, Gerald Robotnik was working on the Ultimate Life Form, which would eventually become Shadow, when all his work was seized by the military, GUN, and everyone on board was killed. One of the victims was Gerald's grand-daughter, Maria, and he sought revenge by destroying the Earth.

Eggman and Rouge decide to set aside their differences with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to try and cancel the ARK's mission by going to the Core. Meanwhile Amy Rose attempts to persuade Shadow into helping everyone else out, but Shadow wants to see Gerald's plans go forth, until he remembers a promise he gave to Maria. Maria, who was a long time mother-figure for Shadow, had asked Shadow to bring happiness to the Earthlings, and bring good to the planet. Shadow, with a tear in his eye, decides to keep his promise to her and Amy, and heads to the ARK Core.

This is where we are introduced to the Prototype Ultimate Life Form, The Biolizard. He begins by moving around the stage trying to force you off, preferably into a pool of weird murky, DEADLY water. After dodging his attack, he takes a rest, and some pipes on his face light up. This is your time to grind up the pipes to reach a sensitive area on his back, which you attack using the homing jump. This will hurt him. For the next two hits, you must avoid the Biolizard in much the same manner as before, but afterwards you must avoid bubble-like spheres that he spits out of his mouth. Some are low, and you can jump over them, but some are high, and you must somersault below them. Once you've avoid enough, he rests and opens up another opportunity to attack him. For the fourth and fifth hits, you do exactly what you did before, but the boss will add a third element. He will now send up small pink orbs to attack you, but fortunately you can homing jump on them and climb high enough to attack his back. Sensing defeat, the Biolizard will shut down the gravity, and you will have to float your way throw a maze of pink orbs to reach his back, where you defeat him... once and for all?

But wait, in a final act of desperation, the Biolizard uses Chaos Control to attach itself to the outside of the Space Colony and become The Finalhazard, to force the ARK to impact the Earth. Sonic and Shadow use the Chaos Emeralds to transform into Super Sonic and Super Shadow.

You battle the boss while jamming to Sonic Adventure 2's theme song, Live and Learn by Crush 40. While keeping notice of supply of 50 rings, which depletes by one every second. When it reaches zero, you revert to the mortal variation of the character, and die from the harshness of space. Both characters take turns individually trying to attack a sore on the Finalhazard's body, while the other searches for rings off-screen. If you're running out of rings, you can fly over and under the Finalhazard to switch characters, but you switch automatically once you hit the monster. As the monster is close to being defeated, he will launch even more attacks at you, including lasers and a shield of orbs.

Once you defeat him, our two heroes will charge at the ARK with tremendous speed, and use their Chaos Control to stop the ARK from moving. Sonic is able to make his way back to the ARK. However, Shadow falls, perhaps intentionally, down to the Earth, where he dies... or so we think.

Back onboard the ARK, the remaining six discuss Shadow, and talk about what they plan on doing next. Eggman is still getting along with his new friends, but returns to his normal self in the next game.
