And You Thought Only Smash Had Giant Melee

What's better than bursting the head of an El Pueblo citizen with a juicy, fat shotgun bullet? Why, blowing the head off a giant El Pueblo citizen with a juicy, fat shotgun bullet, of course.

Setting enemies to gigantic proportions is quite scary. The bad guys are so big that they could just step on you and you'd easily die, but thankfully they cannot. In reality, enemies can't even hurt you because they are so big. For example, when Pueblo citizens armed with a pitchfork stab for your inner guts, they completely whiff. This is because their weaponry doesn't get any bigger than its default size, and when they swing, they get about as close to hitting you as Steven Hawking would be to hitting a Randy Johnson fastball. It's quite humorous witnessing a menacingly huge oaf carrying a tiny toothpick as a weapon. However, some enemies' weapons stay true to their size, and they can hurt you. For example, Mr. Machine Gunner's trusty machine gun matches his size.

So why are some weapons enlarged and others not? This is because when the Capcom artists created the 3D models of enemies, some were made free from carrying anything at all (so a pitchfork or torch could be added later), while others were made with an "attached" weapon to their body (like the machine gun).

It should be noted that every part of the humongous bodies can still be shot in every which way the default size could. So, dropping a fool to the floor by shooting out his leg is just as easy (actually, easier since it's a bigger target) as it was before. Moreover, despite being an ant compared to them, you can still kick enemies when they are stunned.

Below are a couple more pictures truly showing the colossal volume of some foes. It's obvious some buildings just weren't immense enough, as enemies easily protrude through them. Pay particular attention to the final boss screens. The last screen was taken behind a mountain (yes a mountain!) way the heck away from the battle, and the mutated Saddler is still huge as AIDS. Ridiculous!

I bet you I can throw a grenade over them mountains... or at least walk over there and still see the big fool.

To my surprise, the game still had no signs of slowdown despite all this hugeness.
