The Last Story, New JRPG From Nintendo and Mistwalker
Posted January 29th 2010 by kino.

Nintendo just put up earlier today a teaser site for The Last Story, a Japanese RPG produced by Hironobu Sakaguchi's studio.
Little details have emerged, but we can expect a fantasy RPG from Sakaguchi's team, that should take the traditional genre into a new direction, according to Nintendo's announcement. The game is due for release later this year in Japan (maybe as soon as this spring), and Nintendo will be publishing, which is kind of surprising, since Mistwalker was originally financed by Microsoft.
Follow the link below for the Teaser microsite, for now featuring just the logo, and a soothing and very nostalgic sounding musical cello loop.

lol Last Story and Final Fantasy. Maybe it ought to be Lost Story. Has a better ring to it.

I'm excited. Been a while since I've felt this for anything Wii-related.

After releasing two excellent JRPGs on the 360, I'm surprised to see Mistwalker jump ship to the Wii. It'll undoubtedly make more sense from a business standpoint, as the Wii has a massive install-base compared to the 360, but is the market for the game actually there on the Wii? Who knows.
All I can say is, I'd have bought a Mistwalker RPG on the 360 on day one regardless, but I'll have to wait for details of this new Wii game.
