Batman Vengeance
Posted by Archived.
In Batman Vengeance, Batman steps out of the Batcave to bring you another action-packed game with all your favorite characters. Alfred, heat up the bat mobile.
The graphics in this game are great. Batman and the other characters aren't just absolutely real-looking, but not too cartoonish either. The backgrounds are great also. You see Gotham City just like you would in a movie or another Batman game. Whether it is when you are up high being chased by giant wrecking balls, or down low in your bat mobile, it is like you are in Gotham City. It is an Animated Adventure, so it doesn't take full advantage of the Gamecube's power, but it does a pretty good job. So overall, the graphics are good.
A lot of the sounds you will hear in the game are sounds you may hear in the movies. The regular Batman crime music is up for display. When you are in a high-speed pursuit or walking around waiting to attack, the music is just right for the place that you are in. It creates the ambience of mystery. Sound plays a key role because many people like to hear the ol' Bat theme.
If you like the old kick and punch games, you will love Batman Vengeance. Batman has over 200 different martial arts moves. On top of all of that he can use his different weapons like baterangs, or the bat grapple. You can use his different gadgets to help him in different situations. You walk around beating up henchman, and you better cuff them or they will call their friends to get Batman. Also, the levels are divided into chapters. There are different levels for different chapters, which include fighting with villains like Mr. Freeze, Ivy, Joker, Harley Quinn, and the various henchmen they send.
Fighting is the best aspect of the game. You fight different henchman in different chapters. With all the moves that Batman has, you always want to play to see if you can figure out new moves. He can punch, kick, block, and do many of his moves. When fighting, Natman will get powered up. After he is powered up, you can use one of multiple special moves. As you move on to the different chapters, the enemies get harder with abilities to shoot, kick, punch, and do special moves. They aren't your average criminals with ice guns, and plant monsters. The monsters look very different in the levels. The bosses also get harder as you progress. The game goes on as well as your abilities and, after you are used to the game, the challenges keep pouring in.
Now if you refer to Batman as the caped crusader, that is an understatement for the game. In a lot of places you will have to use your batcape to glide across rooftops, crates, platforms, and other various places. You will even have to use your cape in a few free-fall situations where Batman has to rescue people from their bloody fate.
Near the beginning you will have to go through bat training with Alfred. He will teach you the basics on how to use your weapons, a few moves, and your bat cape. Alfred will give you a few tests afterwards to see if you are in tact for fighting crime on the streets. After you advance from training you will start you missions. Whenever you need help, or information, all you have to do is call batgirl with your transmitter.
Along the way you can find secret envelopes too. They will aid you if you replay the game by giving you cheats.
This game is great with many things to do like riding in the batcopter, batmobile, gliding, sliding, and kicking butt. If you like street fighting style games you will love Batman Vengeance.
If you replay the game after 2 times, it can get boring. The first time you go through you want to get all the cheat envelopes. This way you will have all the cheats for the next time you play. Sometimes it is fun to just go around beating up people, but when you have played through a couple times, it could get boring.
This game gets an N-Philes score of B+.
Batman Vengeance is a great fighting game for all Batman and fighting fans. It is worth the money, but I wouldn't try to beat it all in one day because it probably won't happen. You'll want to space it out because the replay value isn't great. The game is good, though, and I'll give it props for that.
