Generation X's Prayers Will Soon Be Answered
Posted July 7th 2009 by Jared Thomas.

MTV's short-lived, long-remembered sketch comedy series The State is finally being brought in full to DVD July 14, 2009. The "cult classic" (I hate this phrase) created a ripple effect of underrated projects (i.e. commecial failures) such as Stella, Wet Hot American Summer, the upcoming Michael and Michael Have Issues, and plenty of other movies and shows you probably don't care about if you don't already know who The State is. But for fans of Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, David Wain, Thomas Lennon, or the oddly successful Reno 911!, this news is better than $240 worth of pudding.
DVD details and promotional video after the break.
According to the official site, the four-disc set will include:
- All Four Seasons
- Over 90 Minutes of Unaired Sketches
- Full Audio Commentary from the Cast on Every Episode and Unaired Sketch!
- Never-Before-Seen Interviews, and Outtakes
- Special Appearances, the Pilot Episode, and Much More!
Considering the Skits and Stickers VHS (the only official The State compilation until now) was only 70 minutes of highlights, this has been a long way coming for fans. They must have been hungry, because the free T-shirt pre-order offer has already been depleted. Sorry, I told you as soon as I found out.
