Square Enix speaks out about their Nintendo plans

Posted October 5th 2006 by Gareth Trinkwon.

Hot off the presses, new info from the makers of Final Fantasy.

In a recent interview with the Senior Vice President of Square Enix and Executive Producer of the Mana series, Koichi Ishii, N-Philes was able to divulge a few tidbits of information.

  • Square Enix is definitely planning on supporting Nintendo's Wii Virtual Console. All they need to do is decide and confirm which titles they'll be adding to the system's line-up.
  • Ishii also confirmed that he is actively pursuing the development of a Mana title for the Wii, adding that the Wii has tremendous potential.
  • The US version Children of Mana will not have any differences to its Japanese counterpart.
  • Children of Mana won't utilize Nintendo's WFC service. The game will support local wireless play with friends, but they decided the immersion and feeling of the game was lost when playing over the internet. Better to feel as if you're really in the thick of things with another player in the same way as Secret of Mana.
  • Whether a Secret of Mana sequel happens depends solely on whether the fans want it or not, so let them know!
